Cold war between KFD-SSF
By CT reporter
MANGALORE : A cold war has now begun between two Muslim organisatioms namely the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) and Sunni Students’ Federation (SSF).
If reports are to be believed, SSF has suffered a major blow ever since the KFD came into existence. The SSF leaders who in turn have taken serious cognizance of the forming of the KFD, are issuing instructions to their workers against identifying themselves with the KFD.
Even the joining of a large number of youth to the KDF has proved a major head ache to SSF leaders who now fear that the strength of the SSF would decline if this was allowed to continue and have even warned their activists against joining KDF by putting forth certain issues.
As far as Karnataka is concerned, SSF is a major organisation of Sunnis. It has also played a major role in spreading religious values and in improving ethical standards of members of the community. Its only drawback however is that it belonged to one faction of the Muslim community. Another organisation of Sunnis namely SKSSF has also come into existence. But, the latter has not made is presence that felt as the SSF.
At the recently convened protest rally by the KDF against the CM’s statement on madrasas, though the KFD had invited SSF leaders, none had participated proving the prevalence of a veiled cold war betwen the two organisations.
Amidst these developments, the Salafi organisation which is dead against the SSF is also against KFD. Even the leaders of Salafi organisations who were invited for the protest had abstained. In fact in the initial stages, whenever there was any case of oppression of minorities, the DYFI came to their rescue first, thereby encouraging many Muslims to join the oganisation. But ever since the KFD came into existence, Muslim youth have been attracted towards it.
In the meantime, in another development, the DYFI which has charged that the KFD activities gave room for suspicion has demanded outlawing of the same. At the same time while Muslims are supporting the KFD there is also opposition to the same in some corners. Now, it is left to be seen where all these developments would lead the KFD towards.
