From our Udupi office
UDUPI : The Nandikur Jana Jagrithi Samithi has revealed a startling information that one AB Harapanahalli, the Bangalore unit officer of the union environment ministry, in his report submitted to the Centre in December 2004, has informed that buildings and roads pertaining to the Nagarjuna power project had been constructed in Ellur village prior to 2003 itself.
The Samithi in a press communique has said that the officer had filed the false report for his own gains though no works pertaining to Nagarjuna were undertaken then.
The Samithi said as per the false report of the officer, the buildings and roads pertaining to Nagarjuna had come up in survey number 253/5A in Ellur village prior to 2003 while the fact is that no land in Ellur had been handed over to the company until 2004 end. Not only that even Nagarjuna company had not remitted even a single penny to the KIADB, by then.
Though the company ought to have remitted Rs 30 crores towards the land for the project, it had remitted only Rs 1.52 crores for the first time on 11-4-2004.
The land mentioned in the report, pertaining to survey number 253 /5A was secured from its owner Irene Soans through an agreement by the KIADB only in December 2004, the Samithi stated. The Samithi further said the report mentioned that it had been filed with due support of the Nagarjuna company general manager Balachandra.
