Lecturer rushing to aid of student attacked by cops

KUNDAPUR : In a shocking incident reported from Kundapur recently, Bhasker Mayya, notedwriter and lecturer in Kundapur Bhandarkar’s College was abused and attacked by the Kota police personnel when the lecturer had rushed to the aid of one of his studetnts who was attempting suicide.
The incident took place at Kundapur recently.
Sridhar, a student of Mayya was in love with a young lady of his community. But, recently when Sridhar found that the girl’s family had forcibly got her married to some other man in Tirthahalli, a shocked Sridhar decided to end his life and contacted his teacher Mayya to inform of his extreme decision.
A shocked Mayya immediately rushed to his studnet’s house along with his wife in the dead of the night and had even informed the Kota police.
But the Kota police instead of appreciating Mayya’s presence of mind, chose to abuse and attack him leaving his wife helpless. She however later on somehow managed to free him from the clutches of the cops and got him hospitalised. In fact, Mayya is also a Sahitya Academy award winner and the attack on this writer has already invited the wrath of progressive thinkers sand various organisations which have taken up cudgels against the Kota police personnel.
Various progressive organisations have also decided to stage a protest in the city and urge the chief minister to initiate action against the Kota inspector Gopal Nair and his staff for their heinous act.
