Corporators’ bid to promote draftsman as JE!

MANGALORE : It has come to light of late that city mayor Ashraf along with some corporators had made a bid to promote a draftsman in the city corporation to the post of a junior engineer.
Reports say already a letter has been forwarded to the state government through the corporation commissioner seeking promotion of the draftsman Ashok Kumar as junior engineer. Though the civic administration department has rejected the proposal on the grounds that Ashok Kumar’s educational qualification was low, attempts are still unedrway to make him the JE.
It may be recalled here that once earlier, an attempt had been made to promote a junior engineer named Linge Gowda as assistant executive engineer. Apart from these, two draftmen have also been made engineers in the last two years.
Recently, junior engineers namely Dejappa, Simon and Ashraf have been transferred and a certain Roopa appointed in their place. However, owing to the petty politics within MCC, Roopa has been assigned only some minor works.
The main intention of the corporators in having their own men as engineers is to have their way in the MCC. What is more alarming is that both the BJP and the Congress corporators have joined their hands in this act.
