Fake doc had collected donations
for breast cancer detection camps

MANGALORE : Barke polie have recently arrested a certain Sharath Kumar on the charges of cheating sev eral people by posing himself as a doctor who would conduct breast cancer detection camps.
Reports have indicated that this man had cheated thousands of people particularly in Shirva, Shankerpura, NMPT and Besant College and other places by collecting Rs 25 as donation for the breast cancer detection camps which he would conduct. It is learnt he had recently met the Canara
College authorities in the city and had held talks with the lecturers and principals about the camps.Though initially they were forced to believe this cheat, later on suspicion, the police were informed. Though Sharath Kumar managed to escape, his assistant one Suneetha Barke of Padil was apprehended
Later, the Barke police, on gathering information about the imposter, contacted him through a third person and saw to it that he came to a place near Besant Complex where he was arrested.
Investigations have revealed that this Sharath Kumar was a jouranlist earlier who even contends that he has authored books on Sri Kshetra Kateel and Sharavu Temple. The 58 year old man used to stay in a rented room wherever he went and then used to call for employees and use the services of some innocent women who fell prey to this tactics. He, it is learnt, had even founded organisations named Sevashrama Charitable Trust, Ladyhill and Karnataka (Kanya Cancer) Women Cancer Protection Centre Talapady, and then on the pretext of helping the poor used to raise donations for his proposed camps.
Now, police have seized the letter heads, seals, handouts and other booklets of this fake organisatiosn.
It has been learnt that , he had even hired a room in Besant Lane since the past one month. Interestingly, his wife was totally unaware of the misdeeds of her husband.
Investigations are in progress.
