Rs 15000 mamool to cops from Udupi buses every day!

From our Udupi office
UDUPI : Here is a startling piece of news -that the Udupi’s traffic police have been collecting on an aveaage Rs 15000 as mamool at the rate of Rs 5 per city bus every day from all the buses in Udupi since the past ten years.
Sources have indicated that a person from Uppoor has been assigned the responsibility of collecting mamool from tthe city buses, to be handed over to the traffic police.
This particular person can be found collecting the mamool every evening for which he gets commission from the cops. Indeed a good job. Such a work is underway since the past ten years, it is said.
There are around 100 city buses in Udupi and the mamool, it is learnt is collected from all the buses sparing none.
Even the bus crew and operators are fully cooperative with the traffic police as far as the mamool is concerned, as this is the only way by which they can prevent the traffic police from bookng them in case of violation of any traffic rule. In case a bus owner refuses to pay the mamool, then he has to rest assured that he would be booked for one reason or the other the very next day.
On the other hand, there are even some bus crew who complain that the traffic police book them even if they duly paid their mamool. That is something interesting !
