ONGC to set up full-fledged township for SEZ evacuees

MANGALORE : MRPL general manager AG Pai has said that the ONGC would be setting up a full-fledged township spreading over an area of 109 acres from Kulaigudde to Maindaguri for those villagers of Bajpe-Permude and Kalavaru who are to be evacuated under the SEZ scheme of the ONGC.
The MRPL general manager also recently visited the proposed township area along with membes of the Hithaakshana Samithi of the affected villages.
The MRPL officer said the KIADB would be acquiring 109 acres and would be sanctioning 12 cents to each evacuee and added the ONGC which will personally take up the project work aims at developing the township as a model township in the whole of the state.
The proposed township will have a hospital, proper approach road to each house, garden, playground,library, market, school and various other amenities.
Already, the process of land acquisition for the SEZ project has commenced and villagers of Bajpe, Permude and Kalavaru have been served notices.
The ONGC has fixed the land value at Rs 8.5 lakh for agricultural land and Rs 8 lakh for barren land, per acre.
