Why Cong demand for judicial probe into M’lore violence?

MANGALROE : Several leaders including former chief minister Dharam Singh who had been to the city recently to assess the situation arising out of the recent violence, had demanded a judicial probe into the Mangalore violence. This demand by Singh that too when there is a practice in vogue wherein ruling party itself orders for a judicial probe in order to permanently hush up any incident, has raised doubts. The question is if Singh wants a judicial probe just to save the culprits from the noose of law.
There has been no instance in the past wherein any government has initiated action against anyone on the basis of the judicial probe reports. This being the case, the Congress alone has to cite the factorsthat prompted Dharam to demand a judicial probe into the Mangalore violence. But it is an entirely different matter that even the chief minister and the home minister have ruled out a judicial probe into the violence.
