We have adhered to rule book, builders argue before HC !

By CT reporter
MANGALORE : In an interesting development, during the recent hearing of the public interest litigation filed by the Citizens Forum for Planned Development of Mangalore, before the High Court with regard to the illegal high rise buildings in the city, the builders who are the respondents argued that licences have not been granted to their buildings despite them being raised as per the existing rules.
Mohtisham Builders, during the recent hearing, while citing five constructions raised by them three years ago, said they have raised buildings as per rules.
However, MUDA commissioner, DC and the urban development department who are also the respondents, failed to make their statement before the court.
Already, the High Court has given two interim orders with regard to this petition. While the first order was not to permit any illegal construction, the second was the directive against regularising illegal constructions.
In the meantime, it has been gathered that the builders are spreading rumours in the city that the public interst litigation filed by the Forum has been dismissed by the court, just to mislead the public.
