Ashraf not eligible for disqualification: ruling finally out
By CT reporter
MANGALORE : The verdict with regard to the long pending case of the disqualification of city mayor from corporatorship for abstaining from three successive corporation meetings has come at last, with the state civic administration department now ruling that he was not eligible for disqualification.
The department, has given its ruling, as per a High Court order which left the decision to the discretion of the department.
The department, in its ruling has said that Ashraf had rightfully abstained from the corporation meetings on health grounds and was not liable for disqualification from membership.
It may be mentioned here that two BJP corporators Ganesh Rao and Naveenchandra had earlier moved the High Court against the mayor.
However, now with the civic administration department giving its ruling, there are complaints that the secretary of the state government had resorted to discrepancies while giving the ruling with the 2 BJP petitioners deciding to move the High Court again.
