CM raps SP

By CT reporter
MANGALORE : It has been reliably learnt that chief minister Kumaraswamy, during his recent visit to the city had taken the district SP Dayananda to task for his failure to deal with the recent volatile situation efficientlly.
The CM who had summoned a few senior police officials to Circuit House for discusion, later addessing the SP questioned "People wherever I had been in the district, have complained against you. Even social workers, intellectuals and minority community leaders say your inaction and inefficiency led to violence. What are you doing in the district?"
Reports said the chief minister even had no hesitation to question the SP saying "What about the local newspaper reports saying your collusion with some political forces and organisations led to the escalation of violence . What do you have to say ?"
The meeting was attended by senior officials including CoD director general Srinivasan who has been deputed to probe the violence.
It may be mentioned here that leaders and representatives of various organisations had earlier made it a point to the chief minister that the SP had not made any effort to round up the Bhajrangdal and Sri Rama Sene who had given the bundh call and that the police force was inactive when members of some anti-social organisation including KFD were moving around royally on roads wielding weapons.
In this backdrop, the CM had sought an explanation from the SP.
In the meantime, the chief minister is in a dilemma as the district minister was totally in favour of the SP even as there is a demand to transfer him.
