Political ploy to shunt inspector Jayanth Shetty from Ullal?
By CT reporter
MANGALORE : Afew leaders of a particular political party were reportedly making a discreet attempt to transfer the Ullal inspector Jayanth Shetty. It may be mentioned here that Shetty is an able police officer who had sent shivers down the spines of criminal elements when he served as the chief of the District Anti-Rowdy Squad some time back. He had even served in North Kanara district.
Following the change of government in the state some time back, Shetty was posted at Ullal, a communally sensitive area, where Muslims are in majority.
It now remains no secret that it was district minister Nagaraj Shetty who was instrumental in bringing Shetty to Ullal, with the support of RSS leader Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat more so because he did not want the Ullal legislator, a Congressmen to have his way in this direction.
But, Shetty’s position in Ullal is not approved of by leaders of another political party who are now moving heaven and earth to shunt him. Though even Jayanth Shetty is aware of this aspect, he has not bothered much about it.
Even a political party is trying to gain undue advantage of a recent incident where police reportedly committed atrocities on a drugs peddler.
