HC directs govt against regularising city’s illegal constrns
MANGALORE : The Karnataka High Court has directed the state government against issuing licences or regularising the illegal multi-storied constructions that have come up in the city. The High Court directive to the government follows a public interest litigation filed by the Citizens’ Forum for Planned Development of Mangalore, pleading legal action against the several multi-storied buildings that have come up in the city without the requisite permission from the corporation and without obtaining no-objection certificate from the fire servcies department.
The Forum, in its writ had also pointed out that around 80 multi-storied buildings have come up in the city sans any permission and had also referred to the high level lobbying by the builders of these illegal constructions to secure permission.
The Divisional Bench of the High Cout which accepted the writ for hearing, while postponing the hearing for another two weeks, has directed the government not to grant licence to the illegal constructions.
