DK anti-rowdy squad keeping track of anti-social elements

By CT reporter
MANGALORE : Close on the heels of the murder of the blackmail journalist and dreaded ciminal Hitendra Prasad in Manipal, the Dakshina Kannada District Anti-Rowdy Squad, as a precautionary measure, has kept an eye on all rowdy elements in the district.
Already, the Anti-Rowdy Squad led by its inspector Vinay Gaonkar has begun summoning rowdyhseeters to the station, in order to avert any possible gang war.
Police have also begun keeping a track of all the activities of the rowdy elements.
In fact, gang war had virtually ended in the city with the murder of rowdy Kiran by the Chetu gang a few years ago. Though later on attempts were made to give a similar colour to MD Jabbar and Polali Ananthu murders, they were not successful.
As at present, the Emmekere Salaam, Ekkur Baba, Barke and Yaddu gangs have virually cooled down.
It is now being said that the Anti-Rowdy Squad chief Vinay Gaonkar and the Ullal circle inspector Jayanth Shetty have proved a nightmare to these rowdy elements who are virtually irked by the frequent visits to the stations and also fear that they may be blamed for any murder that may take place anywhere.
