Jyothi-Hampankatta road still not open for traffic

By C T reporter
MANGALORE: It has been months since the Jyothi-Hampankatta road, one of the prominent roads of the city, was closed for vehicular traffic ever since the concretization works commenced. Now the big question that is asked by many is when this road will be declared open for traffic.
The road was closed about five months ago. Though the works are now almost complete, reports indicate that some of the works are pending near Jyothi.
Today several people are greatly inconvenienced owing to the closure of this road. Those wishing to go towards Balmatta, Jyothi and Hampankatta have to go in a roundabout manner.
Though some buses reach State Bank via Jyothi, Bavutagudde in the morning hours, almost all the buses ply via Falnir, KS Road Road. Though buses pass through Jyothi from their starting point State Bank, the problem arises when the buses enter the city from outside.
The closure of this road for traffic has also hit hard the businesses of the several shop keepers enroute who are hoping the road would be declared open for traffic at the earliest.
