Kashi Mutt row hots up: Sr seer’s banner damaged

MANGALORE : The simmering differences between the followers of the senior and junior swamijis of the prestigious Kashi Mutt Samsthan of the GSB community, resurfaced recently following the damage made to the banners depicting the senior swamiji, by some miscreants .
Police have arrested one person named Nagaraj Bhandari in this connection. Another case of threatening has also been lodged against the accused who reportedy threatened two others who saw him commit the act of damaging the banner.
The accused, it has been gathered, has identified himself with the faction loyal to the junior seer Sri Raghavendra Theertha.
This recent incident caused tense moments in the Carstreet area for some time with devotees gathering in front of the Temple.
The banner, it is learnt, was pertaining to the Sahasra Poorna Chandra Mahotsava of the seer, to be held in the month of November at Konchady Kashi Mutt. Complaints are heard of late that the damage to the banner only aimed at resorting to a malicious propaganda against the seer’s proposed programme.
