Filthy drain water in Mannagudda contributes boils to locals
By CT reporter
MANGALORE : Reports of late are indicative of the fact that the filth water flowing in the open drain behind the Sanghaniketan building at Mannagudda area in the city, was posing serious health hazards to the residents of the locality.
According to the residents, waste water from some area is let into this drain through a four inch diameter pipe and the pollution caused by the filth has in turn led to the formation of boils in the bodies of residents of the area.
They say medical examinations had proved that it was due to the hazardous waste water flowing in the drain.
Locals say though as per rules the waste water let from the particular pipe should be let into underground drainage, here the same is let into the open drain by evading the eyes of the authorities.
Locals also say the MCC authorities too are unaware as to the source of the pipe and complain that their appeals to save them of the problem, have gone unheard.
The neglect of the MCC authorities has now forced the locals to endure with the health problem.
The red boils that appear in the beginning, grow in size as the days pass by, loclas say and many of them have already changed house, while those having no other go have preferred to stay there itself.
Locals are now demanding the MCC authorities to initiate action against those responsible for this problem.
